Each year, the NJ SIM Foundation holds our annual CIO Technology Expo & Charity Golf Outing to support the NJ SIM Foundation and Scholarship programs. Last year we had over 180 participants. In addition to great golf, networking and excellent sponsor interaction, we raised over $100,000 for the NJ SIM Foundation which provides technology grants to charities throughout New Jersey. Last year the NJ SIM Foundation selected the Susan G. Komen – For the Cure organization as the primary beneficiary of our event. The NJ SIM Foundation also provided educational Scholarships to two students from Rutgers University.
Our event will be held on May 21st, 2012 at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course, which is located in Neshanic Station, New Jersey.
As you already know, SIM is a national association of senior IT executives, prominent academicians, selected consultants, and other IT thought leaders built on the foundation of local chapters, who come together to share and enhance their rich intellectual capital for the benefit of its members and their organizations.
Here is a brief overview of the SIM NJ Membership
The NJ SIM Foundation is pleased to announce that NPower has been selected to be this year’s primary beneficiary of the 2012 NJ SIM Foundation CIO Technology Exchange and Charity Golf Outing.
NPower is a national nonprofit that brings information technology services to nonprofits and training to young adults. NPower's strategy is to reach more nonprofits by engaging more corporate IT leaders.
Some of NPower’s corporate supporters include: Bank of America, Cisco, Dell, Citigroup, EMC, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, NetApp, PepsiCo, UBS, Bloomberg, CA Technologies, Gartner, SalesForce, SAP and many other major corporations. NPower is making powerful connections between socially responsible companies and the nonprofits that they serve.
This year the NJ SIM Foundation will work together with NPower to support the establishment of a New Jersey based Technology Service Corps (TSC) center. NPower’s first TSC center was launched in 2002 to prepare underserved New York City young adults (age 18-25) to become IT professionals in the nonprofit, public and business sectors. The program has grown to serve about 100 students a year.
TSC's intensive, 22-week training curriculum is adapted from Cisco Networking Academy and covers topics ranging from PC configuration to networking, troubleshooting, customer service and communications. In addition, through numerous professional development workshops, internships and one-on-one guidance and support, TSC students learn and practice everything else it takes to succeed in a professional work environment. Many of these activities are powered by corporate partner volunteers.
TSC also helps its alumni get jobs and pursue further opportunities for education, training and professional development. We are proud of our legacy of hundreds of TSC graduates, living and working across New York City. As a testimony to its success, the program has an 80% graduation rate and many alumni have ascended to management-level IT roles. The NJS SIM Foundation looks forward to working whit NPower to support the establishment of New Jersey’s first Technology Service Corps (TSC) center.
